Veteran BSA expert needed!

Hi guys,
Would anyone know of a contact or a website I could go to that knows the early history of BSA products in detail. We have aquired a 1913 (we think) BSA TT engine that looks almost new but is heavily modified by fitting a water jacket to the cylinder barrel. It looks that well done we are wondering if it could be some sort of factory developement prototype that was modified by a factory developement department or some such.
I have done a bit of Googling but can't find any "Veteran" BSA experts that I can ask.

Its numbers are-
Engine no on crankcase....35740 B
............Under that.............TT

Number next to cam box.....141
...........Under that............S TT R
(we can't find a meaning for the S or the R which look like they may have been added after the original numbers because the letter stamps are slightly different)

Number on the barrel flange B 56

Thanks blokes,
Graham, in Western Australia
