Re: Update on the New Healey
I checked out the site...they sound serious about this project. Maybe I'm just a cynical New Yorker, but I would like to know what is meant by "Healey 3000 DNA"? What is the essence of Healey that can be suddenly infused into a new car bearing the name of a car that has been extinct for nearly 40 years? Is it the lines, or the in-line six under the hood, the exhaust note, or something less tangible? Unlike Ferrari or Lotus, both of which have a clearly defined company ethos that can be recognized in their ever changing products over the years (it goes deeper than styling cues), where is the bloodline of the Healey? I hope I'm wrong, and those good folks somehow pull this thing off...but coming up with a car that is worthy of the Healey name is a very steep hill to climb...even if it has the blessings of someone named Healey.
Hey here’s a crazy thought...maybe the Healey went extinct because it had to. It was such a “perfect” concept, so right for a moment in time that it could not possibly evolve...maybe there was just no place for it to go?
