Actually thats a real shame. Its a beautiful car, and never hurt anyone, so there was no reason to destroy it.

Screw the car. Did the car ever harm anybody? Probably not directly – but it’s quite obvious to me that he never would have had it at all, if it wasn’t for his sadistic ruthless father ruling that country with an iron fist. It upsets me even more is when I think that Uday probably gave more thought and took more time looking into the purchase that wonderful car, than he did torturing, raping or killing any one of his unfortunate victims.
Take a look at the other photos the soldier in Iraq posted of the Royal Palace. The opulent stair cases, the murals, solid gold fittings in the bathroom etc. All of that while his own people where suffering & struggling every day of their meager oppressed existence.

I'll walk both sides of the fence -- I'm sad about the car, although it still could be restored by a real massochist...I never like to see a car destroyed.

Anyone see the latest figures about how much aid is coming from governments like Saudi Arabia, UAE, Iran, Syria...? It's embarrassing. It's like the government culture in those countries is "I have mine, and if you don't have yours: tough cookies" People accuse Americans of greed, but those specific countries are the most greedy in the world. Such wealth, yet mostly poverty, because the rich share nothing.

Unfortunately this is they way of the world and dictatorships because no-one will or can oppose them. I seriously doubt if Castro is living in poverty; or whoever is controlling Uganda these days; not to mention parts of Eastern Europe, and that's closer to home for some of us - and many other countries too. Unless the populous has the courage to rise up, as in Romania a few years ago, nothing will change. Unfortunately, most people in these countries lack the courage, the resources and the organization to attempt such a thing. If it fails they and their families will no doubt be slaughtered, so they live in constant fear.

Wow Bret you sound awefully bitter about it. I never said that Uday was a monster, just that a beautiful car was needlessly destroyed.A car which could have done alot more for the Iraqi people if it, and the rest of the Hussain's car collections had been auctioned off to help rebuild Iraq. Rather than some wizzed off people taking their frustrations out on a car, which deprived some collector of a beautiful ferrari, and the Iraqi people of probably seveal hundred thousand dollars. Thats just my two cents though.

Walter, my comments had little if anything to do with how I feel. Sure, the car could have been used/sold to make money for the Iraqi people. Like I said it was a wonderful vehicle, but the actions of the owner far out weigh this vehicle’s significance in the greater picture.
That said – I personally can’t begrudge actions of the poor citizens of Iraq. The car might have been stripped by his own henchmen for all we know or perhaps some dirt farmer looking for something to sell, in order to feed his family. Whatever the case the Iraqi people suffered unbelievable hardships under the Hussein dictatorship and I feel it’s a bit pretentious of us to assume that they would act rationally in the days & months after their tormentors fall from power.
IMHO they are entitled to take out their frustrations in any way they feel appropriate. If that means destroying the trinkets and bobbles of their deposed tyrannical ruler and his sons – who are we to question why?
