Wedge TR8 Seat attaching bolt measurements

On the recent 888 thread, Todd mentioned Ricaro seats being an option for the TR7/8.

Since my seats are out being re-padded, I took a picture and the dimensions so it will save someone the effort if they are looking for a different seat to use. Both the driver and passenger side are identical, so use the inner for each and the outer for each.

Don asked if brackets were available and none are to my knowledge, but these would be much easier than a TR6 to retro fit newer seats to.

I also measured the sides from the bolt center to the tunnel and inner rocker panel. Plenty of room in these.

The first shows the measurement and the second shows what's under the carpet.

How many do you need? Tracks are the easy part. Finding the little spacers, bolts, and the triangle track limiters when you go to put them back together is the hard part. The design of the stock tracks is such that adapting other seats to them is pretty easy. I've used TR7 sliders in several race cars with brackets welded to them that the race seat bolts to. The stock sliders are low profile and unlike most cars, lay perfectly flat on the floor.

Todd, I was gonna use it just help to mock up the adapters.

I am switching all of the T40 Torx bolts over to metric Allen cap screws. These use a 6mm Allen wrench and are easier to get a good bite on, especially on the front, where room is tight. The rears are straight down, wide open and easy.

Almost forgot. The seats were finished today, but the visors will be next week. Mucho padding in there now.

Don,

The spots have been there for years. I don't know what this is. Too close to the door for oil, might be paint.

I'm not sure I know what you mean about the side bolstering? The seat trim was folding back on itself, due to the collapse of the padding on the backs and bottoms, so Eddie torn everything out and started over with a bare frame. Nothing unusual on a 30 year old car with foam in the seats.

See the wrinkles in the original seat back pics about mid back high? Also the bottom was coming loose and tearing at the seams, so he took the cover apart, bonded new material to the back of it, then sewed it back together before installing on the new trim.

Ahhh, now I see what you mean. No, I guess that there is no side bolstering in these, or maybe better said, in mine. That one you show looks more like my Miata seat than a TR8 seat. Is it a stock TR8 seat?

Yea they are , was just a good way to show what I meant. Been a week plus since my butt was in my Wedge, so I don't recall what the seats did
