Wedge TR7 Oil Pump Leak

For the third time in three years, my oil pump is leaking. Last time I replaced all the o rings, and it lasted about 3000 miles. I was thinking about buying a whole new pump, but last time I tried that it was made in Pakistan, was low quality and leaked immediately. Does anyone know if anyone sells quality oil pumps? Any suggestions?

Where does it leak?

If it's the big O-rings, then the first thing I would try is facing the pieces a bit, to see if the surfaces are flat. With care, you can do that with a fine flat "machinists" file; but it's probably better to lay some fine sandpaper on a flat surface (like glass or fresh MDF) and rub it on that in a "figure 8" pattern. Removing a small amount of metal will also put more force on the O-rings for a better seal.

You can also get "quad seal" O-rings from MMC that might help.

In my case, the leak was actually the pressure relief plunger, and a kit of new O-rings from LDPart fixed it right up.

I smeared some Permatex on the O-ring just to be sure, but it probably wasn't needed.

Thanks for info. I have new orings. Am I correct that the thinker ring is pump to block, and the thinner one is internal in the pump? Also, if I do this with the pump on the car, how do I prime the pump? Thanks, John
