MGB TR7 5 speed in MGB

I don't think so....not without some changes to the backing plate, input shaft, etc.

Take a look at the Riverside (Datsun) conversions or the T9 conversions already available. The work has been done for you.

Let's not forget that Hap (speedracer) is offering a kit of his own. Using the
T5 transmission and the like. I think his prices are better than the rivergate prices. Hap has the kit listed on his site www.acmespeedshop.com.

Something to think about anyway.

I've thought about this one, as the Austin Marina used the 4-speed that came on earlier TR7's and the Marina used an 1800 as well. So, some permutation of bellhousing/gearbox from the two models may make a working setup.

which brings me to my question. the 1500 Midget transmission is also adapted from the Austin Marina. George Turnbull left British Leyland and went to Korea with 2 marinas and developed the Hyundai Pony. ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Turnbull_(autoindustry_executive) )I don't think the Pony ever entered the USA but it did Canada - which makes me wonder how compatible its 5 speed might be

I ***believe*** Hap is using the T9...not the T5.

The Pony started dissolving on the boat ride over. You'd be luck to find on still on the road.
