TR2/3/3A TR3A Side Curtain adjustment

Folks,

The left side side curtain on my TR3A has a 1/2 inch gap where the side curtain meets the windshield post. Is there a method to adjust this, other than bending the mounting bracket?

Hey Ron,

Need some more info:

- is the hood on or off?
- are we talking about a covered curtain or just the frame?
- Is the top edge of the curtain true with the hood?

I ask this because the hood will pull the windscreen back slightly, the cover takes up about 1/2" of gap with the weather flap, and the whole curtain can be adjusted to match the windscreen support using the mounting brackets - if it is also not true with the hood.

The hood is on and the side curtains are covered.
The top edged is pretty ture with the frame.

Great!

I would start by loosening the windscreen support and see if you can cant and/or slide it back a bit, then retighten. If this still leaves too much of a gap, then the second step is to loosen the screen mounting bracket screws (8) and see if you can move the screen assembly to average the clearance between the screen top and forward edges. Hopefully these steps can get you close enough.

If not, you will have to adjust (bend) the windscreen bracket, which is much trickier...I have ways of doing that, but they envolve heat and potential for cracking the chrome and/or bracket. Hopefully you will have results without going that far, though.

(so I'm told)They attached a top (or a jig) to duplicate the tension on the windscreen; Attached the sidescreen mounting brackets to the sidescreen; Positioned the screen for proper alignment (2 person job)and then marked where the pilot holes for the 8 screws should be drilled. In your case you would have to fill the existing screw holes. When I did mine I drilled my old holes out to accommodate 1/4" hardwood dowels set in with waterproof carpenters wood glue. Worked for me!!
