TR2/3/3A TR3A Rear Trim Panel

Quick question - is the rear trim panel designed to fit into these clips? What is the attachment method for the bottom of the panel - I do see 2 small holes in the sheet metal but what about the clip? Thanks in advance,

Luke, I think the clips are for holding your wiring harness to the tank.

I think the clips are for the trim panel, the only wire in the area comes up the side of the tank and directly to the sender.

At the bottom, as I recall, there are two metal brackets that fasten to both the trim panel and the body. Or maybe they were only fastened to the body and just caught the bottom edge of the panel.

That's how mine is. You can see the clips in this pic, riveted to the hardboard panel and exposed to be screwed to the sheet metal body:

Note: I can't be sure this is correct or original, just what I found when I took mine apart.

And yes, I just shoved the top edge into those clips.

Hi George - this is a very good fix. Thanks. Seems strange Skinner (my interior supplier) did not include the wood strip on the backside.

By the way, your shop is very well appointed...

Oops I see now I was looking at the picture of the panel wrong - I thought it was a wood strip along the bottom. Seems like I have to peel the covering back and pop rivet the bracket in place. OK, now I've got it.

Yes, that wood strip was something I added to my old and (I thought) somewhat flimsy panel. I also reinforced the 'ears' at each upper corner with a later of thin plywood.
