TR2/3/3A TR3 w/overdrive speedo cable routing???

Need to know the routing of the cable from the tranny to dash. This is a restoration of a non-OD car adding an OD tranny.

There is no 90 degree drive (as with later TRs). The speedo cable is the long one for an overdrive and for a left hand drive TR. From the fitting on the overdrive on the RHS, it is fed through the frame to keep it from sagging and touching the road. Then it loops upwards near the front of the starter. Make sure it doesn't get pinched between the starter and the flange at the botton of the engine block. If it does, it's finished. Then up behind Carb #2 (see photo under air filter and choke bits) then to the skuttle in front of the battery box. In the center, it is held by a brass clip and a pan-head screw to the bodywork (look behind the heater valve) and then through a grommet in the firewall to the speedometer. You will have to feed it in the way described so that the small thresded fitting for the back of the speedo will fit through the grommet.

On a LHD TR3, it's strange ! First you'll need that hugely long cable, 96" as I recall. From the OD, it goes down at an angle through the hole in the side of the tunnel, rubber boot, and hole in the floor. Mine abrades where it rubs against the holes, so I added a section of fuel line as a cover at that point, held with a tie wrap.

Then it loops over towards the RH frame rail, curving towards the front. ISTR there is a clip at the RH frame rail. Then up the firewall near the throttle linkage, and across on the ledge in front of the battery. There is another clamp on that ledge to hold it in place. Then back down on the LH side and through a hole in the firewall (and grommet) to the interior of the car.

There may have been more clips originally, but those are the only two I have and, except for the abrasion at the hole in the floor, it's worked fine for many, many years.
