TR2/3/3A TR3 radiator L bracket attachment to Rad?

This bracket has come off the rad. It is the L shaped part that is held to the radiator support rod by a bolt. I believe the upper part of the rad is copper so how is this bracket attached to the rad? Soldered? Some other method?

It's just soldered on. Normally there isn't a lot of force involved, and the soldered area is fairly large, so that is plenty strong. When my 3A got wrecked, it ripped one of the brackets off the inner fender, but didn't bother the radiator at all.

Kind of tricky to resolder that without getting one of the other joints too hot, IMO. If possible, I'd take it to a radiator shop.

BTW, part of the bracket is joined to the radiator frame, which is steel. The other side joins to the brass upper tank.

When I had my radiator out this winter I finally had those brackets put on (had been missing as long as I had the car). I had the radiator shop do them at the same time I was getting other work done.

Only took him a minute but (as Randall notes) it can be tricky. This guy has been soldering radiators for 50 years so he instinctively knew how much heat is enough & not too much.
