Tourist Trophy Exhaust *drools*

I've recently come to the conclusion that a lot of my stress comes from the fact that my happiness is almost entirely dependent on other people and their actions. So I've been doing some stuff to make myself feel better about being me. Around lunchtime every day, I'll work out a little, then take a shower and have a cup of tea. I've also been eating healthier. I assume that if I perceive myself as being better, I'll feel better. On to the point, I now have somehing to work towards. Anyone seen this bugger yet? For every mile I walk/run/ride, a dollar goes into savings for this:

MGB Polished Stainless Steel Exhaust

I want it, and badly, especially since Charlotte needs a new exhaust. Her current unit sounds low and loud for all of the wrong reasons, because there are holes in all of the wrong places. Has anyone installed one yet? How does it compare to the Peco system?

Current savings is $8.08

Stainless steel is the best but, other than the header, there's only one thing wrong with a polished exhaust, not being exposed, no one sees it! Stiff price to pay for something that is hidden, that will eventually discolor and get dirty.

I just want the header and the shortie pipe connecting to it! The rest is overkill. Ever drive an MGB for five years and NOT whack the exhaust on sommat? Most I've ever seen show SOME kinda scarring.

Actually, it's not a bad deal.
I looked through the Moss catalog and that SS header is $315 by itself.
So another $85 for an entire SS system.....not bad.
At about $100 more than the painted Peco system, it seems like a good value to me.
But Doc is also right....if your car is lowered or you drive on bumpy roads, your system will probably take a hit at some point. I fabbed up a small skid plate for the header on my race-Spridget to protect it from bashes (mostly for Lime Rock).

Of course, there is a cheaper, painted (and less-pretty) steel header for $195 if you wanted to build the rest of the system on the cheap (you can get painted, "turbo" mufflers from Summit for about $15). It sort of depends on how long you plan on keeping the car.

By the way, the exact configuration of that SS header is not ideal for max-power. The Peco might get you 1 or 2 more HP. But on a street car, I don't think that's such a big deal.

The ~'69 MGB~ I just bought has a rusty steel tube header on it. I won't change it, but I will likely pull it and try to clean it up a bit.

On other matters, congrats on seeing the value on good eating and moderate excersize.
A few years ago, I took a renewed interest in nutrition and moderate excersize and I feel vastly better, both physically and mentally.
And I was always a tea drinker (I was born in the UK) but I had been drinking more and more coffee. Now I'm back to just hot tea (mostly normal Lipton or Red Rose but also some green tea).
In our society it's hard to maintain a healthy and excersize routine...I know. But it's worth it!
G'luck! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/thumbsup.gif

I was planning on getting it through you anyways, you always give me the best prices on everything. The fact that I haven't called you in several months is just because I haven't actually ordered car parts in several months. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/frown.gif

So the Peco system is still worth more ponies? Hmmm. I do want to get some good power out of the car, I have the Flamethrower exhaust on it now, and I do want to rebuild the engine with a hotter cam and some mild porting and HS6s. Is the difference negligible or is it the difference between happiness and "I could've had a V8?"

The skid plate idea sounds very good, as I intend to lower the car about 1", but not right away. First is converting back to lever shocks and adding a sway bar, followed by new wheels and tires.

What if I drive my street car like a foolhardy boy racer? /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

On the one hand, I am installing a Fidanza flywheel soon, but on the other hand, I spent a good bit of time making the engine bay look pretty. This exhaust system seems like a good blend of performance and visual "wow factor." I'd also like to see pictures of your skid plates.
