Tony, Doc, Question on shock oil type

I need to add a little shock oil to a couple of shocks. They don't appear to be leaking and work very well. Do I have to use the shock oil made for Armstrong shocks, or is there an oil I can get local that will do the same job without damaging the seals? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif PJ

I've always used mineral oil in mine. Stinky Armstrong oil went into customer's cars. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

20W Motorcycle Fork Oil (Castrol, Harley Davidson, Mobil etc.).

It's formulated to avoid foaming and says it's nice to rubber seals. Use the petroleum based/mineral, rather than the (more expensive) synthetic. Avoid hydraulic jack fluid (foams). Moss also sells a 'proper' lever shock oil. Some people use 30W oil for a stiffer ride, but I'm going with uprated valves with 20W.

Yep, cheap clear mineral oil that you buy at the corner drug store.

The laxative? mineral oil from the drug store?

I've been soaking rough emeralds in it for a few days now to clarify them a bit before pollishing them into pretty gemstones. Interesting. Sounds like another product with a million n one uses. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif
