I don't know much about the costs of such things, but surely there MUST be more than $2500 in body and paint work on the white one??

Yes, Yuma AZ is a LONG 2200mile drive to my new home outside of Savannah, GA, but it was just TOO GOOD of a deal to turn down!
-I did a similar trip when I picked up my BugEye Vintage Racer near SanFrancisco... That one had been stored inside the garage of the former owner's widow for 30+ years & came with a huge stash of spares (5 spare engines, 6 trannys, a BugEye Hood assy, engine hoist, tools, jack-stands, unmachined head castings, dozens of 1-off prototype cams, several radiators, a couple of windshield assys, and 100's of boxes of new parts. Pistons, bearings, con rods, carbs, rear ends, brakes, shocks, etc. etc.. Enuf stuff to nearly fill a 16' moving truck! She even gave me a box of old racing photos & the trophies that the car/driver had won from races all across the US in the early 70's).
-I did another similar trip when I picked up my TR GT-6 Racer & a GT-6 parts car up in Indiana.
-The trip from AZ will take me 3-4 days, but it'll be a good excuse to visit my buddy in Scottsdale, another in Fort Worth, etc...

This '66 will make a nice cheap street cruiser for now.... :driving:

"Cheers!"

Re: SOLD!!!

Thanks guys!

I figured it was easily worth the asking price.
...I only hesitated because of the distance, & the fact that my garage is already pretty FULL!

I'll let you know what it is REALLY like after I pick it up!

Re: SOLD!!!

Congratulations Bear. Looks like you made a good buy. I would have beat you to it if only I had room for another project.

Description: My garage. The Sprite over the Prefect.

Bayless,

I admire your clever storage solution!

I'm working on getting ALL of my cars & projects in one location (down here in GA), & I'm gonna probably devise a few clever storage methods for my large spare parts (BugEye bonnets, full chassis, rear ends, & other large but "light" items...).

That "Prefect" looks a lot like a '47 Austin 10 that I just sold to a fellow BugEye buddy out in CA...

"cheers!"

Re: SOLD!!!

Hi Bear,

The Prefect and Austin certainly were competitors in their time. I only wish Ford had kept better records like what is available for some of our sportier British cousins. I have since swapped sides with the Beetle and the Prefect. There is just enough room on the left side to get in and out and on warmer days, I can back it out to work outside. In the past month, I have completely stripped and repainted the interior. I am now working on rewiring and hope to be finished later this month. Maybe by summer I can finish a few minor body repairs and get some paint on it.
