Have you seen the price of a Revington TR complete body shell? Almost 22,000 pounds! That is a lot of dollars. What is someone wanted to build a new, custom 6? Amazing......

Bill, are you getting the TR6 bug again and are planning on building one from scratch yourself? :hammer:

Fryin' pan/fire!!!

...masochism knows no bounds, I guess...

:smirk:

$35,319.53 at today's exchange rate for a TR-6 bodyshell.

Holy cow, you could purchase a complete, total rust bucket and have it professionally built and painted for less than that!

Revington is a terrific TR specialist, though, maybe the planet's best. Their PI system for the 2500 six is very nice.

Wish they had a branch office near me . . . :cryin:

No kidding - if our cars are considered east to restore I can't imaging taking on an XKE or rotten 911 or big Healey. Humbling to see the skills involved in restoring a body on one of those.

Was that an aluminium body? I hope so for that price.

Plus shipping of course.......

I found an old Roadster Factory pub with and article about BMIHT making TR6 body shells. I believe they could be bought for approx. $10K. The shells were definitely steel and not alloy! Charles (Runyan) actually bought at least one. I don't know what happened to it, but during the rough times, when TRF almost went out of business, it may have been sold.

Could be wrong here but;
If memory serves it was still sitting in the display area last summer. Black with red side stripes.
Definitely steel.

That's where it was last February when I was there.

Bill has neither confirmed, NOR DENIED the XKE rumor yet...

Hmmmmmm....something is definitely going on here.

Bill may be crazy but he is not stupid.

I think that's a denial.

...of sorts. :smirk:

Throw a new bodyshell on a RATCO frame and you no longer have an original TR6. It becomes a reproduction or "kit-car" :cryin:

Pop-riveting an old commission plate on it doesn't make it authentic and probably violates US Federal Law. At what point would these cars be banished to the Reproduction section of the local British Car Shows?

Sadly, as many projects rust away this may be the direction the hobby is heading. :nonod:

Doc, it's still neither confirmed nor denied.

Intelligence and mental well being is confirmed, but that's about it for now.
