Following is the text of an email I recently received. It is a great show.

THE GREATER LOS ANGELES BRITISH CAR MEET
At Woodley Park in Van Nuys, California
Saturday & Sunday, August 28th & 29th, 2004

After a three year absence, WE ARE BACK!!! Join us for our return to Woodley Park, one of the oldest British automotive lawn events in California. 300 thoroughly lovable British cars are once again expected to grace the field at Woodley Park. Added features will include a free British car tour on Saturday and a great display of automotive oddities provided by the Arcane Auto Society and other unique car clubs with orphans and bubble cars from all over the world.

* SUNDAY SHOW * August 29th *
----------------------------------
Join your British car friends for a smashing day at the park. Don't have a show car? Don't worry! Daily drivers, vintage racers, street rods and works-in-progress are as welcome as Concours quality show cars. British food, jazz, toys, gifts and more fun than you'll be able to tolerate!
People's Choice Awards in six classes.

All entrants will receive a commemorative gift. Cars will be placed on the field starting at 9:00 AM, and the fun goes on all day. The registration fee is $25 per car at the gate. There will be no pre-registration.

* SATURDAY TOUR * August 28th *
-----------------------------------
The British Car Meet tour will start at Woodley Park in Van Nuys - the same place as the Sunday Car Show. This is a no-cost option for people who like to drive their cars as well as show them.

We will be sending cars off between 8:30 AM and 9:30 AM. Map will be provided. Don't be late! Details will be available as they become available

------------------------------------

DIRECTIONS: Woodley Park is located on Woodley Ave, between Burbank and Victory Blvds, one block west of the 405. From the 405, take the Burbank Blvd (one exit north of the 101/405 junction) exit, turn west on Burbank, drive one long block to Woodley, turn right, drive about a quarter mile and start looking for the parking lot entrance to the right.

PLEASE, DO NOT PARK TRAILERS IN THE PARKING LOT! Trailer parking will be available on-site. Spectators attend and park for free.

Call for information: 310-392-6605
e-mail: "Woodley Park 2004" <rfeibusch1@earthlink.net>

UPDATE: 08/06-04
THIS EVENT HAS COME BACK WITH A NUMBER OF CHANGES THAT
WERE REQUIRED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF RECREATION AND PARKS.

(1) Plan to bring a picnic lunch or arrange a club pot luck.
---------------------------------------------------------
There will be no food available at the park except the firm that is contracted to the park and set up in the car park - they seem to only stock candy, ice cream and soft drinks.

(2) There will be no commercial vendors - Only PR booths like Moss and Barlow Insurance.

Hey Steve, if you can, please take some pictures that we can put in the forum. Sounds like a great show.

Basil

Hey, if anyone is going to this show, I'd be grateful if you would print out some cards for the forum (They can be printed on standard busines card stock) and hand them out at the show! Maybe we can get some more members here from the event!

Here are the cards in PDF format:

Card Back

Thanks in advance,

Re: THE GREATER LOS ANGELES BRITISH CAR MEET 8/28-

Barring any last-minute travel, I will be at the show and will certainly have many pictures to share. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: THE GREATER LOS ANGELES BRITISH CAR MEET 8/28-

I'm on the Arcane Auto Society mail group, and they do have some nice unusual cars.

Off the top of my head... The San Francisco based club has a Bond Equipe, Austin Cambridge, Riley RMC roadster for British iron, and also has lots of unusual European cars as well... Renault 4CV, DKW 3-6, Fiat 600 Multipla, Citreon 2CV and Traction Avant, Amphicar, the list goes on.

If any of these cars show up it should be quite a show.

Re: THE GREATER LOS ANGELES BRITISH CAR MEET 8/28-

Steve S...

Unfortunately I'm on the outside looking in for this show, there is no plane ticket in my future for the trip down there for the show, I'll have to let some other BCF members enjoy it for me.

Re: THE GREATER LOS ANGELES BRITISH CAR MEET 8/28-

Third British Car show in a row that I will be working. Someone is out to get me. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Edit: Job moved. I am once again going to the show! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Re: UPDATE: LA BRITISH CAR MEET 8/28-29

I received a follow-up email advising that there will be no food or merchandise vendors at the LA British Car show on Sunday 08/29/04. Following is the relevant text of the email:

Re: UPDATE: LA BRITISH CAR MEET 8/28-29

Is this to satisfy their requirements for what is an "event" and what is not? From what I understand, that's why the show went away in the first place. They considered the show an event and therefore wanted to start charging for it despite the fact that it was a free show.

Re: UPDATE: LA BRITISH CAR MEET 8/28-29

I'm near Calabassas, but you may not want to hook up since the car I'm driving has only 46 HP. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Hi Basil,

I've been hiding out the past several months because my car has been away from home about 5 1/2 months since the beginning of the year for engine and body work, and unfortunately for me, being without my Healey is AGONIZING! I know that a lot of BCF members have cars that are off the road for years, sometimes even decades, but this is SHEER TORTURE! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nopity.gif

The good news is I'm going to get her back in about a week and a half, and I am SO HAPPY!!! The bad news is it won't be in time for the L.A. British Car Show, but I'm planning on going anyway, so I'll take a bunch of BCF cards. The best news (which I just found out today went I went to visit my car) is that the fellow doing the paint job also painted the 100M that sold at Monterey for $70,000+ last weekend, plus a couple other Healeys there - pretty exciting, huh? (I'll be even more excited when I get the car home!) /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yesnod.gif

Soon to be on the road again,

Sharon

Re: THE GREATER LOS ANGELES BRITISH CAR MEET 8/28-

Hi All,

I will be driving up from Orange County. If there are any other members that will be driving up on the Sunday from San Diego or Orange County it would be great if we could all meet at a place and go up in convoy. Also if any of us "break down" (of course that is nearly impossible) we will have some support.

Please let me know if you are interested and I will find a suitable place for us us to meet.

Looking forward to the show /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif - if my LBC gets there! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Re: THE GREATER LOS ANGELES BRITISH CAR MEET 8/28-

I should get you there really fast by the looks of it. Isn't that your LBC in your avitar? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Re: THE GREATER LOS ANGELES BRITISH CAR MEET 8/28-

Re: THE GREATER LOS ANGELES BRITISH CAR MEET 8/28-

Did you see the crate arrive with the replacement car?

That same driver nearly wrecked a GTO. One got wrecked on Saturday. It is rough wrecking a 15M dollar car!

Re: THE GREATER LOS ANGELES BRITISH CAR MEET 8/28-

Didn't see the replacement but I was shocked when later the same day he was driving the classic Chrysler racer on it's demonstration lap! He must have friends in high places.
