Hope you don't mind ?
My interest in things MGB are as a replacement power plant for my 1935 Morris 12/4 (special!)
It started life as a saloon, but lost its original bodywork over thirty years ago.
I bought it as a two seater bodied non runner and have rebuilt the complete rear end and gave the door tops a few curves!
The back end I knew was badly made when I first saw it and consisted of pop rivets and metal and in places 6" thick body filler,it had to go!
I have rebuilt the rear end to a four seater open tourer style and made the frame and hood and quite pleased with it!
I managed to find a slightly later engine of the same type and despite rebuilding it,it lacks power to safely use the car on anything but town roads!
This is where joining here comes in.I have been researching engines and apparently the early b series engine is a descendant from my old side valve lump so it will be "keeping it in the family "so to speak.
I have been researching on here and other forums and hopefully come up with what need?
I have an Mgb five bearing engine and have aquired the engine backplate to suit the three synchro gearbox and now seeking a pre 1968 flywheel to suit along with a three synchro thrust bearing arm.
Due to the chassis having an x frame I am limited to the non overdrive box,to keep things hopefully simpler.
Any helpful advice would be much appreciated,or if any UK members can help with parts I would be glad to hear from them!
Great forum by the way!
