I just wanted to take a moment to say how thankful I am for all of you. At this time last year, I had no idea or inclination that I'd become an LBC owner. Heck, even six months ago, I had no idea. Then I spotted what I thought was a Midget with a For Sale sign. At first, I paid it little attention, but each time I drove by, my interested level increased. Finally, I said to myself "If the car is still there this time, I'm going to stop". Well, it was, and the Midget turned out to be a Sprite, and the rest, as they say, is history.

The Sprite belonged to Longbridgehealy, and he recommended this site. So, first and foremost, I have to thank him for being an extremely gracious previous owner and seller for helping me learn the ropes with these little cars and for pointing me in this direction.

As all of you know, these little cars are definitely "Hands On", and most of my experience in that regard was with bicycles (and a smidge of aircraft restoration). In other words, I had only a faint clue what I was getting myself into. Without your guidance and advice, the Sprite would not be nearly as enjoyable, both from a tinkering and driving standpoint, as it has been. Nor would have it played the role that it has had in my daughter's life. For that, I am very thankful.

I look forward to sharing many more experiences with everyone here at BCF in general and the Spridget forum in particular. Happy Holidays everybody!

I've been involved with a few different vehicle-based communities over my relatively brief foray into fun-car territory, and I have to admit that the Spridget folks have been some of the best people. I'm amazed at how far I've come since my first few tentative posts about the Tunebug a few years ago, thanks in no small part to folks here.

So I echo your thanks, and look forward to what you (and we all) have to share in the future.

Let me echo the sentiments of the two very fine fellows above.

I'm thankful that I have been able to spend much of my recreational time over the last 50 years noodling around with little British cars. There were times during those 50 years when it was one of the rare, positive things in my life.

I feel our hobby (or whatever it is?) is useful, interesting and educational........but also has a great social community. For me, it's been time (and a modest amount of money) well-spent.

My dear Irish mother always said, "each day, you should always have something to look forward to".

Even in this cold, eastern USA weather today, I look forward to going out to the garage and looking at my cars.
Or firing up my computer and checking out British Car Forum. :friendly_wink:

Nial x2! I've met many good people thru this forum and I'm thankful for many things and BCF is on that list! I became involved with LBCs after growing up with them in the 60s and 70s to have something to get away from my job and now that I'm retired it's even more important.
You folks are BCF and I hope y'all have a wonderful Thanksgiving today!
Bless you all, Rut

Let me echo the well-versed sentiments above! I've never had the fortune of owning British sports cars as a leisure pursuit; mine all have to work for a living, too - but this has just made their ownership even more entertaining.

I am thankful for bosses who were more understanding about the quirks of running British cars for a livelihood - for example, the Dean who called me to introduce himself and then asked me "do you know a shop [in the Burlington, VT] that can repair the wire wheels on my XKE Coupe," as opposed to the president who hectored me as to why I wasn't present when my Spitfire 1500 sheared a distributor drive key.

I am honored to know enthusiasts in the Land Rover and TR-7/8 communities through my readers of my Land Rover magazine and specialists like Erick Van Sickle of Leyland British in ME and Woody Coooper of the Wedge Shop in MA. And I'm very fortunate to be able to develop bonds through this forum and others run by energetic enthusiasts who ask "what can I do to help," instead of snarky remarks about novice questions or political issues embedded in too many marque clubs.

I've been blessed to own 9 different British cars: Land Rover [2], Triumph TR-7, Triumph Spitfire [2], MGB [2], MG Midget and a Morris Minor. Each one of them has taught me something about myself and my capabilities, in addition to providing endless years of driving pleasure. So thanks to everyone here and a hope that I can once again own and enjoy a Midget or Sprite.

Best wishes,

Jeff

I was directed to BCF from some other forum a couple of years ago. Although my Sprite is still a shell and a bunch of boxes, I still faithfully visit BCF every day and enjoy every minute of it. I am still making slow progress on the Prefect though so maybe next spring I can return to the Sprite. My thanks to everyone here for always being so friendly and helpful.

Niall, are you running at the Turkey Bowl at Summit Point this weekend? And David, now that we've got you ensconced in the BCF, we need you to start coming to the local British car club meetings... Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Larry

No. I was thinking about it, but it would be too much of squeeze, even just for one day.

I spectated last year, but I'm not a great spectator......my next trip to Summit will be to the Jeff 500 in spring, 2014.

Sounds like a plan. A few cars from our local lBC club go up every year, park by a set of bleachers and stand around a fire and watch the cars come past. I was going to look you up. Maybe next time  Happy day after Thanksgiving!
