Howdy all:
Just wanted to share a surprise MGB encounter I had over the weekend. I was in Tokyo last week on business, and my girlfriend joined me for the weekend. We spent Sunday in Kamakura, about an hour outside of Tokyo and home to several major Buddhist temples. We were walking through the quiet side streets of Kamakura on our way to the Great Buddha and saw a car under a cover in a small parking lot. We could just spot the wire wheels and octagonal knock-offs under the cover. We looked at one another and agreed that the shape was familiar, and must be something English.
Now, I *never* *ever* lift up a car cover or disturb it in any way on someone else's car, but I'm more than willing to get down on my hands and knees and see if I can peak under. Doing so revealed the characteristic side jacking points of an MGB in lovely British Racing Green! We were *very* excited for our little encounter, had a nice laugh, and walked on to receive spiritual enlightenment from the giant, 800-year-old bronze Buddha.
We also spotted several classic Minis over the weekend.
