Sump and timing cover gaskets

Hope to replace gaskets on sump and timing cover, also have oil seal. I'm going to do this with the motor in place.
Any suggestions for a successful outcome ?

You might mention what TR this is in regard too.

Lots of techniques for this -- I use 'copper' RTV on the pan/cover and press the gasket against it aligning and clearing the holes of RTV with a bamboo skewer. Then I put that arrangement gasket side down on a sheet of glass.

I just grab a big picture off the wall and use that.

Once dry (like overnight) I clean off the excess RTV (careful application in the first place minimizes the excess) so no 'noodles' remain to get into the oil later.

I then use Hylomar on the gasket and the machined surface of the engine.

Helps to verify the flatness of the stamped parts beforehand as prior over-enthusiastic tightening may have caused the hole area to dimple. I use a body hammer and dolly to flatten any dimpled holes.

Tightening is of course done is a criss-cross manner. Some use some sealant on the threads of the studs/bolts to reduce the chance of seepage there.
