Summer seems such a long time ago

Now that winter is upon us here in Scotland and they have plastered the roads with salt, summer seems such a long time ago. I thought I would cheer myself up by posting some pictures from earlier this year. I hope that more of you will be able to do the same to keep my spirits up!
This was the local car show -

And here is a picture taken from my study window of a competitor on a Dutch-organised tour of Scotland -

But we did have some better weather later in the summer -

Hope they cheer you up too!

Thanks Nick,

The summers do seem to be getting shorter. Fortunatly it was a pretty decent driving season here on the east coast, USA. We had a few rainy periods but allot of miles were coverd in a few months. As long as the road is dry I'm out in the carthrough the year but it's not the same as top down & in the 80's.

Maybe global warming has at least one redeeming quality /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Nick, if you look at the bottom right of my home page, you will see links to several summer events here in New England. Clicking on each will show you a lot of British cars and their owners enjoying time together.

I guess we all suffer during the winter months,
even here in the tropics. The ocean temps are
now at 85*F and thus a bit too cold for the bikini
babes to venture out.

So we are forced to occupy ourselves elsewhere.
It's a grim life during winter but we suffer thru it.

Cap't Dale sends regards to all!!

Hello, Nick, great looking pit crew! I love the color combo on your '3. I'm not a fan of the two-tone color schemes I've seen on 3s, but yours totally works!

If it's any consolation, a beautiful day here in L.A. Temps in high 70's; I took my 3 on a beach tour, Manhattan and Hermosa Beaches, you'd have enjoyed it!

Capt'n Dale,

I sure hope that the boat has a better floor board than the Crypt Car!

Paul- it does indeed have a decent deck.
But true story, we were maybe 5 miles out when
a less than $30 capacitor blew on the less
than 1 year old, $15,000. engine. Killed us
dead in the water.

Homeland Security gave us a tow back to the docks.
So maybe now you understand my mental blocks with
things electrical? It is funny looking back on it.

Yeah, right. My emergency appendectomy was kind of funny, looking back on it now! Just kidding, but I do understand your feelings and I know that you are much better at this stuff than you think you are, so tomorrow, when you're fresh and ready to go, put that dizzy in correctly and get her fired up!

Paul,
Thank you for the pictures of the car show. I enjoyed them a lot. I had a three-month trip around the USA in 1995 and my biggest regret was that I didn't make it to a British car show. I am determined to return one day and get to a VTR convention or Triumph Fest or similar.
Kevin,
My TR was painted black and white by its previous owner in Oklahoma. Other than that the car is very original - his sister-in-law bought it new in Memphis and used it as her only car for 15 years. I think I would really prefer it to be all white, but now feel that its colour-scheme is part of its history and so have kept it that way. (It very nearly was re-sprayed white, but that is another story.) Anyway, at least it's easy to recognise at a car show!
Craig,
Don't be silly. It's easy to know when it's winter in Scotland - the rain goes white!! lol. No, here is a picture to prove that we do get good weather. Actually this year was really great (for Scotland) and the two really rainy days we had were during the local car show and when the Dutch Healey Rally arrived! Typical!

Now that's a beautiful setting, especially with the two little ones enjoying the view and the ride. Nice color combo.

I don't know whether you noticed this little honey in the pics:

Paul,
That is a superb TR3 and I like the line up of other cars in the background. Just the sort of show I would love to attend one day. I hadn't realised that the other TR3 was a two-tone. I just thought that it was a poor paint match!!!
Here is a picture of the Dolomite I used to have just to show Craig what non-summer is like on the other side of the planet!

Nick, that was my purpose in posting it. It was one of the rare two tone TR3's that I have seen.

The show was the Cape Cod British Car Club British Legends weekend in Falmouth, MA. If you look at the website, be sure to click on the pics to make them large, then click again for the final focus or they'll look a bit out of focus.

Enjoy!!

Wow, I'm even more color blind than I thought! I still can't see a two-tone TR3 in that photo.

John, six posts back, the two TR3's side by side. The one on the left is two tone green, the one on the right with white wall tires is solid green. The post after that of the three pics is black with a tan interior.
