What are the differences in the SU carb designations. i.e H2, H4,H6, HS6, HD8 etc?

My TR4A has H6s on it now, which were the correct carb for a TR3 or 4, however the 4A came with HS6 or Zeniths Strombergs. I have a set of rebushed HS6s that I would install if I had the correct linkage pieces. What are the fundemental difference between these, H6 and HS6?

Also, is the SU carb tuning kit useful? Does anyone have it and use it on a regular basis. They are about $30, is it worth the money?

Size. The 2 is a designation given to size over 1" in 1/8
" increments. So H2 is 1 1/4" H4 is 1 1/2"....

Best 30 Bucks you could spend saves a lot of time tuning the carbs.--Fwiw--Keoke

But they aren't that hard! a length of rubber hose to listen with, or a Unisync, a screwdriver, an open-end and a little patience is all you need!!

Yup. What HE said.

More valuable than the "kit" is a UniSyn tool. The only pieces in the "kit" worth anything are the jet centering anvil and the li'l toy jet wrench. IMO not worth the $30.

...just my opinion.

Own enough cars and eventually a PO will just include a kit /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif I did buy a proper sync tool (the one with the red ball in a tube) and it works great! Course a length of garden hose works almost as well.

My ex-pat English friends all call it a "listenin' pipe". /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif
