Streaking windshield

Hey folks.

I have a 92 XJ6 with the unibrow type one windshield whiper. There are streaks, no doubt from the previous owner leaving it on when dry, on the windshield. I've tried washing and using Rain X. Nothing will get rid of the streaks. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Keef

MMM 390008 headlight polishing kit. works to remove and smooth scratches and film on glass and plexiglass.

Glass polishers will make large scratches smaller, not remove them. Should be better but not perfect.

Had a buddy redo his 58 vette windshield, spent 40 hours polishing, told him it would not work...WHen driving at night the headlight scatter off the windshield made the car undrivable at night. He had to buy a new windshield to solve the problem.

Good Luck:

...and vinegar.

I have interpreted his "streaks" as actually scratches!

I got a quote for my XJS replacement glass for $325, installed. I was floored and was expecting $1500. It's been cracked since I got it six years ago so it won't get switched over until I am ready to repair the small rust bubble under the windshield gasket. More important items on the list to repair before I get into the cosmetics. I'm good as long as no cops spot it.
