Coming along on this and enjoying learning a lot. Too many things going on to be able to work on it consistantly. I don't think it was touched in it's 43 year life !! Not only parts that had become~one~but grime, etc. that is sooo thick. I'm now cleaning parts so I can paint it all...what a PITA!

There are plenty of days when I longed for nice, clean parts rather than all the grimy ones I've got.

And I know all about the "too many things going on" bit. I've got a couple projects all lined up, as well as an engine teardown, just waiting for some time to get to them. Ah well, 'tis better to be busy than not sometimes...

The nice thing about a "B" front end
is

that with 9 bolts, you can drop the whole front end
and wash it with a pressure washer.

I'm in the same boat, but slightly further ahead. (Of course, it's stretched over a couple of years. I really feel the "too many things going on" pinch!) Dropped the front, disassembled it all - actually, had to bring it to my local British car guy to get some of it apart! - have stripped down and re-painted almost everything, and am now reassembling it all. Very exciting to see it all going back together, all shiny and black! And the amount of times I've yelled what a PITA, well, I didn't know numbers went that high! But totally worth the time, effort, elbow grease, and bleeding knuckles! Keep at it!

I have it all back together now...just have to put the front hubs back on with their new bearings installed. I even put new spring pads and u-bolts in the rear. Actually, it was a very good learning experience. I'm not afraid to do it again now .

Well done!

I remember that feeling from the first time I worked on the brakes of my old Bugeye -- once you put it all back together (and it works) much of the fear goes away. Certainly made me braver about tackling new jobs.

And a level of confidence while out-and-about! You KNOW what is going on under there and can address any issues without the trepidation over "strange" assemblies.
