Starting Problem 1974 TR 6

Starting Problem 1974 TR 6. A sweet runner. Recently, sporadically, when key is turned on, nothing happens or sometimes, you can hear the relay Click. Sometimes it starts normal. If I try 10 times, it may start and then runs strong. Ignition switch works; light comes on, gauges work. Tried new ignition switch,... Same results. Sometimes the relay Clicks and sometimes it does not. Checked battery, terminals, cables, etc. All good. Good 14V DC in battery. Connections to starter are tight. Any ideas,...?

Welcome! This is the part of the BCF set aside for introductions of new members. Please post your questions over in the Triumph section, and I know you'll get plenty of info.

Had a similar problem. Eventually bought a starter from USA. Big improvement over the original starter. Lighter, spins engine faster. Let me know if you want the source. Started every time for the last ten years.Ron
