Sprites, Midgets, and a Spitfire

A friend of mine is changing direction on his restoration projects more toward the TD and B side and has offered me 6 cars in various states. The cars are: 1 '68 Sprite, 1 '69 Midget, 2 early '70 Midgets, 1 '76 Midget, and a Spitfire. The Spitfire and '76 Midget are described as parts cars and the '68 Sprite as the best of the bunch. He also has new Bugeye floor pans, carbs, fenders, carpet set, and on for a mix of the cars. They are stored inside some distance away and I do own a barn large enough to store them all. Could everyone take a shot at the collective value I should offer? My real needs are the floor pans and carpet set out of what I see and possibly a set of wire wheels.

A set of wire wheels would be good to have. Make sure to get the rear axle and front suspension at the same time, they're different.

You could always go with VW power too.

The 76 is a bit rusty. The Spitfire looks ok from the outside.

Blue 76 Midget,
Burgundy with wire wheels Midget,
Red / gray spridget.

Can't give any clue on value. Sorry.

I would say that if you can get it for $1000 you would be a very happy camper. Less than $200 per car.

JP, it's a shot in the dark right now and I don't know what to offer. I like buying stuff that will prove useful to me in the long run as well. I also have to figure out what my wife's pain threshold is for $ if I do this deal. She's very understanding and my biggest supporter, but I better have a good reason in her book.

Uneducated guess: You should be able to recoup your investment in a fairly short time and still have at least one decent project car for free.

Correct! My friend also collects and restores early VWs, so there's lots of those parts around. He has several MGBs as well, but wants to hold on to those. He's one of those people who can do the mechanical and body work to a high level.
