Spin On Oil Filter: Survey Says?

I've been using a WIX 51348 for a few years. One interchange is a Pennzoil PZ-21, but when I try to do a cross reference, those are not among the ones listed for our cars, SooOOoooo....

What SPIN ON filters are being used by BCFers?

Any spin-on with a 3/4-16 (unf) thread and a 2 3/4" gasket will fit, whether it is GOOD or not is another question.
I use the PZ-21 since it is available locally and I change the filter with EVERY oil change.

My biggest problem is getting access with a wrench to get the filter off. My technique unbolts the spin on from block and hoses and carry to work bench. Still less messy than they old cannister style.

Miss Agatha uses what ever is on the shelf. Nothing much in there to filter out in any case. Have never seen even a spec of anything on the mag pickup.

For the 1500, Fram PH3614 and their derivatives fit too.

Great thing about the 1500s; you can unscrew the thread from the filter adapter and take it into the store with you. Then you can buy whatever fits and is on clearance. Just make sure the total filter diameter isn't too big, or it'll interfere with that huge nut that holds the adapter on.

ok, the original filter size is supposed to be 5/8th, and thats the Crosland one (that has a 5/8th in. thread) ive been buying for a direct fit .

It looks like I need to get the 5/8th to 3/4th threaded adapter in order to get any of these aforementioned filters, since they are all 3/4th in. thread...Am I correct? I remember opening up EVERY purolator filter in Pep Boys the other year, and none of them were 5/8th in. thread, they were all 3/4th...

NAPA Gold is made my Wix. Use them on all my cars.

If you look in the back of the big Fram catalog it'll tell you all the dimentions...at least it did at one time. This info should be easily found at any parts store by an experienced counterman.

You guys and your fancy new spin on filters. I still use the canister types. I change my oil every 3k or so and so it takes a long time between changes and I am not that worried about getting oil on me when I change it. I think I only had to do it twice. Once after I started it up and put a couple hundred miles on it and when I changed the head gasket which wasn't even 3k miles yet.

I don't know Kim, I have never had a spin-on fail on me on the highway, but on the other hand I have had a cartridge filter let go at the worst of times (I-95 @ rush hour!!!)

Spin on for the win, got the setup right here for $50 bucks. Say a small thankyou every time I change the filter.

Definitely.
I got mine from BillM's great stash o stuff.
Pulled the canister & banjo and gave it to BillW for a project he's doing and got two nice Valvoline filters across the street at True Value where they were still marked at the 1990 prices. The things sat on their shelf a long time waiting for me to buy them!! They aren't replacing that kind of stock so they were happy to sell them off.
