Speaking of Carbs... H1 questions

Yes - H1 - not HS1 or HS2 etc.
These are Bugeye carbs on a Bugeye motor in my MK2 Sprite.

I've got the stuff to put the choke linkages together now, but I have this one little problem:

When I turn off the choke on the front carb gasoline kind of pours - with the choke on just a bit this stops.

The car starts with just the slightest turn of the key, like a half second of starter after over two weeks of sitting so I'm happy with that but I'm not happy with the gas pouring when the choke is off thing. What can cause that?

Joe Curto is the go to guy for SU parts He was a great help in sorting out my mismatched springs and jetting issues. He had the parts in my hand in 3 days from NY.

Well I suppose I need to take it apart before I can find out what I might need.
Yes, I've heard about Joe before. Once I know what I need and have a list of stuff to get his number will come in handy.

There's a fragile little cork seal that prevents leakage around the jet. Sounds like this might have deteriorated, and/or the jet might be worn a bit where it rubs on the seal. In either case, the solution is to rebuild the carbs. Not difficult to do. Be sure to get new jets and needles when you do it; many rebuild kits don't include them.

Joe answers the phone himself. Tell him what you are doing and what you think you need and ask for his suggestions.
