Thanks Jack.

The starter button (push) works without the key, and she'll run like that until she runs out of gas.

Looks like I need to run a wire from the new fuel pump to the white wire or brown to get me to the person helping me with the lock.

After than the the fuel pump should be white ire I think.

Wiring covers are so old and tatty that it is hard to tell what is what...

If your wiring is old and funky, I highly recommend replacing the harness with one from British Wiring

https://www.britishwiring.com/

Bugeye harness is really simple, and that way you will know exactly what you have. Took ma about a week to remove/replace, but I work really slowly when I don't know what I am doing. I'd guess you could do it In one day easily.

Bugeye starter should be a pull as well--it's a cable that runs to a switch on the firewall. There is no solenoid.

I'm thinking that I'm headed that route Drew. I'm not confident that trying to 'patch' her up is going to lead to anything but madness.

Another though/question here.

With my ignition key gone missing (the least of the DPO issues) I still get ignition spark without the key but the fuel pump was hot wired and recently caused a fuse to blow.

How about if I wire the fuel pump to the Brown (always hot) wire and then simply disconnect the battery when she isn't running.

I think that will work, no?

I don't know... Tunebug still has the original mechanical pump, so no wire going there. Not sure how you would wire in the pump correctly. Might want to look at a wiring diagram for a later sprite with the electric pump, and see where the pump hooked in. The Haynes book has diagrams for all year cars, so it might help.

Of course you could do as you suggest. Could also wire an Ace hardware switch in to the wires from the key switch that does not work and tie the fuel pump to it so all work in the on postion and off of course the other way. Just tape it all in and let it hang a bit below the dash so you can get to it easly. Cheep and dirty way to fix for the short term.

Sounds like a plan Jack. Biff had the same suggestion on the other post, so I think it is a plan.

Thanks you Drew as well.

Thanks everyone!
