Here is what you do when you strip out the threads for the shocks.
Can you believe this. I removed the rubber bumper after I took out the spring & to my surprise, the DFPO left me with this. What can I do about this one?

There've been times I wanted to do that under a Midget - wait, I have! Couldn't bet one apart once so I took a sawsaw to the "A" arms - it came apart!

I think a sporting gentleman would offer the PO a choice between a punch in the head or the gut.

They always take gut.

It's amazing what people do with wood screw & sheet metal on cars.
"Hey louie pass me one of those wood screws. I gotta fix this engine"
How much of a repair does this need? The spring seat is fine and the rubber held on ok. Do I need extensive repair on this? Can you even get a replacement part?

I haven’t seen a replacement for the upper perch. If you can get a nut on the shock bolt then it is probably OK. If you really want to fix it I am getting ready to scrap a tub that is rotted out, but the front clip is good. If you want the upper spring perch let me know. You could cut / grind out the one on your car, replace the threaded back up plate or weld in a new nut on the existing plate (may make more sense to maintain the front end geometry), and weld in a replacement perch. It really depends on how far you want to go and whether or not you want to go through the aggravation of getting to the nut the next time the shock needs to be removed for service. I’d say run it as is.
