My fellow Brits will get this one right away. For my colonial cousins who also get it, bravo! Feel free to substitute cities and locations to suit.....

One dark and stormy Saturday night, two lads from Liverpool were on their way home from the big match in Manchester on their motorcycle when the machine broke down just far enough outside of Manchester that they couldn't walk back for help in safety.

They were stuck on the side of the motorway for some time, as owing to the weather there was not much else out on the road but eventually a delivery truck appeared, heading out of Manchester carrying a load of bowling balls to, as it happened, to a business in Liverpool.

The two were able to flag the driver down, and after explaining their plight, he agreed to give them a ride to Liverpool. He explained that owing to insurance regulations he was not able to carry passengers in the cab, but that if they were prepared to ride in the back of the lorry he could also take their motorcycle.

Happy, the two loaded the machine into the back of the truck with the aid of the driver, and they set off on their way.

The truck driver was now behind schedule, and put his foot down in order to make up time. Sure enough, a Greater Manchester motorway patrol car was parked up off to the side, and clocked the truck at well over the speed limit.

The officer pulled the truck over, and approached the driver, asking him what the rush was. The driver is well ticked-off now, because he is late with no way to make up the time, and so he decides to have a little fun at the cop's expense.

He says to the officer, "I got a load of Scouse Eggs on board, and I'm hurrying to get them into Liverpool before they all hatch."

The copper hasn't heard of such a thing, and scoffs at the explanation.

The driver insists. He says "Come and take a look for yourself".

Leading the officer to the back of the truck he opens the doors, and what greets them but the sight of two wet and bedraggled Scousers sitting on top of a pile of bowling balls, together with the motorcycle.

The cop radios in for backup, explaining: "I got a lorry full of Scouse eggs about to hatch..... Two of 'em are hatched and already they nicked a motorbike!"

Even though I was born a bit northwest of LP, my Dad always called me a "little Scouse".
Lots of good company, including Lennon and McCartney. :yesnod:
