Saturday, June 1, Lime Rock Park, Lakeville, Connecticut
On Friday May 31 and Saturday June 1, the Vintage Sports Car Club of America is holding a vintage racing event with the Jaguar Club at Lime Rock Park. I believe the Historic Racing Group will also be sharing the track.
If you are within shot of Northwestern Connecticut, and if the weather is nice, this is a pretty cool venue to come to. By about 12:00 noon on Saturday, many non-racers show up in some pretty cool vintage cars. It is a non-spectator event, and you should be able to gain admission to the track just by signing a waiver of liability and saying you are there for the VSCCA or Jaguar Club event. You should be able to walk through the paddock without hindrance and see all of the cars; and even chat with the drivers and teams if the urge strikes you. If history is a guide, by about noon on Saturday, there should be quite a few non racers showing up in vintage cars.
I can’t tell you what cars will be there. VSCCA is mostly pre-1959. Jaguar Club and HRG will be a bit more modern, but still vintage. It’s not the Goodwood Revival, but if you like vintage cars and have nothing better to do, it is worth a trip.
You can pretty much walk all through the track grounds and check out every corner. Or just go up to sit on the hill overlooking the turns coming off of the Main Straight and give me a waive. I’ll be hard to notice compared to the other fine cars. But I’ll be in the MGA #645, bringing up the back of the pack in Group 4.
