Well I just got out of bed, Sittin here semi concious, sippin at a cup of noodle soup, trying to remember a time when I had a cold this bad.
It came on instantly. Serously, within 5 minutes I went from fine to rotten. It's gotta be the flu. I've never actually had the flu before, and I don't want it again!. I just hope I can make it to work tomorrow...
Ah well.. It could be a lot worse.

If it's th' strain wot went through this area around the holidays, you won't be workin' tomorrow. That'n was a week's worth of goo and aches to make ya weak just gettin' outta bed to get to the bathroom. Couldn't sleep easily for most of it either.

Good luck!

You sure know how to make me feel better DOC! hehe.

I'm down too! Been sitting here on the couch all morning and afternoon. I was just starting to feel a little better, so I figured it’d be ok to take a quick trip to the local printer shop to pick up some schematics I had made.

Two minute drive up & back home and now I feel like warmed over manure again. I better get over this tomorrow – I got stuff to do!

Many of us here on the island wish to thank
all the mainland tourists that brought that
awful bug with them. It's going around here as well.

Like wow! One minute you're fine and the next minute
you're sneezing, nose running like Niagra falls,
joints hurt to crawl into bed and a headache you
think is going to blow your head off.

2 days in bed for me, 3 days for Wendy and after
ten days still not feeling 100%.

All you can do is live thru it. Chicken soup seems
to help a little.

Gracious!

Well I'm trying to go to work today. I'm overdosed on Advil and nose spray.. we'll see.. Bills don't stop for a cold! I do feel a bit better. The joints feel like mebbe they got a dose of WD40 and it's starting to work. I'll let ya know later.

That may be a decision you'll regret. Symptoms are masked, you're gonna wear out by noon. Rest and time.

We'll I'm up and felling a little better. Went to bed early after taking some Nyquil. Going to work later on this morning after my Allergy & DayQuil kicks in. I’d probably stay home but I’ve got a customer with a down system that needs some work. With any luck the part’s will arrive early and I can get it running by noon-ish. That should get me back home by the time the meds wear off.

The good news is I work pretty much on my own so there’s almost zero risk of passing this crap on to someone else.

arrraraaggaggarrrararagggg....... this is kickin me! I've been at work for the last two days, but only physically. I know I've been lax on posts, but tough... I'll be back. I'm goin to bed.
rrrgggagggrgrgaggagr..... BWAAAAAAHHHHH-CHOOOOOOOO! oohhh, lemme get that... sorry.
~cough cough~
time for more drugs.

Thats right Banjo... Better living through chemistry! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

My 12 year old had during the holidays. 104' temp and fainted twice trying to walk. Nobody should have to go thru that. Now that I have read all these post I'm going to have to spray my computer down with disinfectant and wear gloves for a week!!

Man I hope I'm not about to join the club. Nose is clogged up and my throat is starting to get sore and I crashed pretty hard this afternoon well into the evening. Not the time for me to get sick as I have a altitude chamber ride next week. Uhg.

I'm finishing up week two of the damned
bug and still taking allergy pills for the
sneezes and runny nose. I'm at function level
at maybe 90%. Joints are back to normal.

I'm hearing thisis a three week total lifespan
flu bug.

d

Yup. Real butt-kicker.

Stewart!! Can you not get a reschedule? See th' flight surgeon... this thing will make chamber training a nightmare. Sore throat is the 'tell-tale' first symptom and it gets more miserable rapidly. By the time you read this you'll be nodding agreement. With it here, my right eustacean tube plugged up. First time in YEARS that's happened... and my first thought was of chamber training and rapid altitude change... and what a horrible experience it would be thus afflicted!

Mmmmmmm Afrin gooood! I CAN BREATH!!!!!! now if I could just stop trying to hack out my lungs.. It'd be bearable.. Stopped in home for lunch. Wife just got a call from the school nurse. Kids got an ear infection... Oh Joy!

Ben,

Be careful not to use Afrin too much.
I did years ago,& ended up with severe nosebleeds.
Ended up in the ER.
I'll probably never use the stuff again.

- Doug

Thanks Doug. I appreciate the warning. I've used a regimin of Afrin and Advil to get me through many colds over the years. My big problem is that my nose gets stuffed then it goes right into my ears and they get infected. I never grew out of that.
I've always used Afrin very sparingly, and only in the worst part of the cold. I know it's addictive, and probably not real good otherwise, (never heard of the nosebleed thing, but I can see that happening) But it's saved me from some pretty miserable hours.. Like today.

I second the afrin warning. I thought I was going to bleed to death through my nose after taking that stuff and really should of gone to the ER. 2 days of non stop nose bleeds.

I think I'm getting off lucky compared to some as it just seems like a mild head cold I hope. I've got a week to get my head cleared up. I don't mess around with blocked up ears as it nearly killed me a few years ago while flying. Found out the hard way one ear was not equalizing about a minute after take off and 1500 feet up as my world started spinning. Took a bit to figure out what was going on and descend enough to get the pressure off. Not a fun day.
