Woo hoo! I finally got my '79 B back from the body shop on Friday and boy is it nice to be able to drive it again!! I'm attaching Woodstock's "formal sitting" pic, which means it was taken some place other than the driveway.

The body shop had it for six and a half weeks but did a great job on the body work and paint. The only glitch in the whole deal was that the trunk lid I ordered (after the tire place broke the original) had a dent in it. Can you believe it?? The guy at the shop said the painter saw the dent and they had to work on it quite some time to get that fixed. It would've been nice had they called me about all of that first but they didn't. They asked me to pay $150 out of the $350 it took to repair and I paid it. I figured that if I went through the hassle and expense of shipping, reordering, trying to settle with the carrier or vendor and determining who was at fault, I'd be out more time and still some more money, no matter how I did things. Anyway, they did other work and didn't charge me, such as undercoating. installing my new gas lifts for the hood and TRUNK(!), repairing a broken hose that I guess is the gas overflow(?), just to mention a few. I figured I still did well in spite of the trunk lid issue.

Here's a link to some photos so you can see the progress Woodstock has made. And no more stripe...yay!!!!

Woodstock's restoration

Oh, and please take notice of those "new" rostyles I redid. There's a reason the word "pain" is in the word "paint"!

Thanks for "noticing" those wheels! I was about as thrilled with those as the new paint job itself!

Yes, I think the paint code said "yaller". I did almost name it "Ol' Yaller" but a friend suggested "Woodstock" instead. After that, I couldn't really change the color but I do prefer to call it "safety yellow".

Sweet! Woodstock looks beautiful! Great job on the wheels, too. Did you do the ol' masking tape/exacto knife bit, or the mask, of some secret yet-to-be-disclosed method?
Woodstock gives me hope and inspiration. My lbc is currently in the "before" stage, but getting there...

Yes, I did the masking tape/exacto knife bit and it took forever to get each wheel masked off...did I mention I was anal? I'll bet I spent an hour per wheel just doing the masking but I was very pleased with the end results. I made sure to use the blue painter's tape for delicate surfaces, just to be on the safe side.

My neighbor is a contractor and loaned me his painting table which has a round top that spins freely on a square base. That helped a lot because I just spun the top and sprayed the silver coats on the wheels very evenly ...much easier than without, I think.

Good luck with your "Garage-ster"!

wow, very nice. Just curious though, what type of wheels were on it before, i've seen them, but can't place on what car?

The wheels that were on it were HORRIFIC! I'm not kidding...they were ugly with a capital "UG".

I got the car from my brother-in-law and he was the third owner. According to the sales record, the buyer got wheels that were a dealer option, so according to that, those were an MG option in 1979...does that sound right to anyone??? My bro-in-law said they were the wheels that were on it when the guy who owned it before him bought it.

They look like nothing that would go on an MGB at all. One friend said he thought they came off of a 1980 or so Celica.

I've always wondered what they really were supposed ot be on. Ideas, anyone?

Yeah, I was so thrilled to get rid of those stripes! The stripes were too much for that small body...the B's, not mine...
