From the Jefferson 500 Vintage at Summit Point (off of their "paddock" wireless system  )

Lots of neat cars here! A little rain but not bad so far.
They are not using the Tech Shed this weekend, so I've got #909 under it....nice and dry!

Talked to Brian Redmond and Roger Allard night. Bill Scott will speak at a dinner tonight. All really nice, down-to-earth guys. Roger is not related to Sydney Allard but he's remaking a version of the J2.....he said that considering his name, he couldn't resist. They've built less than a dozen so far, but have orders for about 90.

For Spridget racers, this is Mecca. Randy Canfield, Joe Hauser and Ray Stone are here! They are here as part of a Marlboro Race track Re-union. Other greats too. Stone is racing his Bugeye. He passed me about 5 times and I think I was still on the first lap!

Spridget is running OK. Not great. Micheal has had some problems but he's got them worked out.

Fun!

My mother used to say "From your lips to God's ears" but he must not read the BCF as I am out with a broken layshaft.

I'm kinda glad that we got mixed-up about when our Group went out, because I got a chance to say a quick hello to Nial.

His Spridget seemed to be running well and Nial had a bunch to dice with.

Talked briefly to Michael. Sorry to hear about your layshaft.

I'm staying home today. The poor old body just gave out after three days at the track. I think Steve will get along without my nagging him today, though. The Spitfire is running great. He had a good dice with Stone on Saturday!

Try to stay dry today!

Yeah, plus I spelled your name wrong.....your mother would hate that!
The small-ish keyboard on that Dell Mini must be messing up my spelling [/excuse] :jester:

I think I wrote that you had thing worked out just after you had put the new diff in.
And you're probably right: the diff gears "catching" on all that broken shrapnel may have caused the trans to fail.
As you may recall, I blew a diff at BeaveRun and the failure looked just like your's. The following event, I lunched the gearbox, so the progression of failure was likely similar in our cars.

By the way, that hoist in your truck is impressive.

John: Glad we got to chat, even just for a little while. I raced twice in heavy rain today and got soaked and cold. Then I drove 5.5 hours home. My old body is *killing* me right now. Are we having fun yet?

I talked to Ray Stone today.....I told him I'd been hearing about his Sprite racing since I was in high school. He laughed.

Friday and Saturday were both fine with just moderate dampness. Sunday (today) we had really heavy rain, but most of the guys went out in our group anyway. It's road racing....not NASCAR.

I have lots of photos and video (including the Umbrella Girls). I'll upload and post a link after I recover from the weekend.
