I removed the steel beams from my front and rear bumpers to reduce weight. I have a ’77 midget that I converted to electric. I was looking for any weight reduction I could do. I was able to cut the weight in half for both the front and rear bumpers. 50lbs to 25lbs for the front, 35lbs to 17lbs for the rear. I posted articles with pictures on how to do this on my web site www.electricmgmidget.com I thought some people here might be interested in how to do this. It wasn’t that hard, and you can’t tell the difference when it’s done.
I also have an article on lightening my flywheel. For an electric car it’s not much use. I’ve included information on how to calculate the effective weight reduction for your car if you do lighten your flywheel. I hope you enjoy articles.
