Progress towards Friday's deadline

So Friday was the day that I wanted to have most of the bugs worked out and be able to go for a real drive that was planned. (First day of spring break and all  )

I decided to start a new thread for this.

New fan should be here tomorrow. New motor mount should be here on Thursday. I dropped the rad off and the shop and it should be fixed and ready to go tomorrow. Hopefully all can be put together and ready to go for Friday.

Oh, and everyone that I have talked to has said that this must of been one of those weird things! I was told that even most racers are still using the old mounts. ??? We will see.

Same thing happened to me with an old 1962 Mercury Comet.

Looked like this, only brown instead of white:

My brother had a 1962 Olds F-85. Similar lines. It was a sweet little car. He sold it and bought an Escort! Geesh.

I found a 2 door 56 fairlane for a buddy a few years ago that was not rusted out--looked pretty good. When he finally met us at the car the guy only wanted $1200. As if that wasn't good enough. We turned the key and drove her home!

Thought I would share my first set of wheels back in 1955. Just like this one on the outside anyway.

My dad is finishing a restoration on a '56 Fairlane similar to his first car which he bought new in '56. Technically his first car was a '34 Chevy that he traded two fishing rods for and had to always park on the top of a hill due to its lack of starter. My grandmother was so embarrassed to see the '34 parked in front of their house, that she helped him buy the '56.

Anyway, my dad's current '56 came with a 454 Cobra-jet and the original brakes (with possibly the original pads). After a few near death experiences, my dad decided to replace the 454 with a 302 and update the brakes.

Y'all don't really want to see my first car... a 1990 Ford Escort wagon. At least it was a 5-speed.

'63 VW Bug with Headers and GR-70 14" on Chrome Reverse Wheels on the back. Green with Black Pinstripes and a Sunroof. Reverb Unit on the AM Radio. Later a FM Modulator, man I was the total audiophile back then.

Oh and the best part, a gasoline powered heater. Service regularly or the smoke and fumes would drive you out of the car. But on a cold morning, toasty warm in 2-3 minutes.
