price differences on slave cylinders

Wow!! call locally to see about buying a Clutch slave for my Midget, NAPA $144.00. Figured they didn't know how to look up, next parts house same price. then I checked E-Bay I beleive $99.00

So then I check Moss orginal/ aftermarket prices were $60/$43 7/8 bore and 1" bore $116/$60.

I can wait on the part.

Plus any difference on Lockheed and aftermarket slave cylinder. I am sure I will order Lockheed but is aftermarket better by chance?
My 1098 would be 7/8 bore no need to go bigger?
 
Check Peter C. at Worldwide Auto Parts. He is a good source for parts. 608 223 9400 I paid him $41.88 for my clutch slave.
 
Absolutely probably best support you'll find.
 
I've never pulled one of these down, however; I would speculate that you could probably rebuild it with just univesal wheel cylinder cups from NAPA of the correct size.

Someone chime in on this.
 
I would imagine generic seals would work. It won't on a master but should on a slave. As long as the bore isn't pitted, clean up, put in a new seal and you're done. You can do it easily from beneath the car with the slave in situ.
 
If I am not mistaken that slave cylinder is cast iron and any I have seen are really pitted. The cupseal is one with a hole in the middle, not a standard US style wheel cylinder cup. If I am wrong, someone please correct me. I think it is also an easy piece to resleeve with brass or stainless, then not worry about it anymore. (Hint hint, if anybody wants to send a dead one my way, maybe setup to resleeve.)
 
If it's not pitted, you can get a rebuilding kit from the Usual Suspects for a few bucks.

If it is, it can be resleeved, probably a lot cheaper than the prices you quoted.
