I recently purchasaed a 1960 bugeye and am considering installing a CD/mp3 player. I'm not sure how this can be done with a positive ground electric system. Is there such a thing as a conversion kit for the player? Or - How do I change my ride from a positive ground to a negative ground?

Hi & welcome to the forum,
It's pretty easy to convert from positive ground to negative ground. There could be an issue with a later model SU electric fuel pump that has a diode in it but it is easy to convert also. Just get the Moss #377-145 diode. I doubt if you have this pump anyway. Just follow the instructions shown here:

Hi Rich,
My memory is a BIT better than Keoke's, although I thought he would be a bit too "thrifty" to actually buy such a mundane item.
I copied it (screen shot) from an Ebay offering, touched up the size & color & printed it on mylar. Coat of clear Krylon to seal the ink. Might be easier to buy one on Ebay though. For lack of a better place to put it, it's on top of the driver's side footwell. Somewhere near the battery would probably be better, but my batteries are buried behind the seats. As is, it's near the starter solenoid, the likely place to connect a jump start, or at least be noticed when working on the car. Didn't want to put ugly stickers in too many places. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Keoke, the boot kit arrived Friday. Looks great. But we had a foot of snow and are expecting 18 inches tomorrow (if you can beleive the news). We are also in the middle of a room addition. So guess where they put their supplies out of the snow.
Dave, that would be nice. Do you still have the Email address from a long time ago? I was thinking of putting it under the bonnet somewhere. On a BJ8 I'm not sure how it could stick near the battery except the underside of the boot lid. The material doesn't lend itself to stickers. Maybe the aluminum plack would be better.

I would put the warning where it is most likely to be seen by someone who is jump starting the car or working on it. Near the battery would be good. Under the boot lid, not so likely to be seen. I personally would jump the car by attaching to the big terminal of the starter solenoid under the bonnet. The terminal that doesn't go directly to the starter. Since "most" batteries are under the bonnet, an unknowing person might look there first. Of course if you are there supervising, a tag is not likely needed. Hard to guess where someone who is unfamiliar with the car would connect. Maybe you need two tags?
I just glued the tag on with rubber cement. It will peel off without damaging the paint. Glossy printer paper also works well in place of Mylar. Just seal both sides well with multi coats of clear Krylon.
