Plating - sources?

I am about to have my hand brake handle re-chromed and my brake servo Nickle Plated (or suitable environmentally friendly substitute). I had a previous recommendation for these guys:

Has anyone had experience with them or are there any other good recommendations out there?

Basil: no experience with them but if you visit https://www.hemmings.com there are many companies offering re-chroming, usually in the East coast. However:

if there are small parts involved, I prefer to take them in person, one-at-a-time, to a local re-chromer, because parts get lost easily, even big ones, especially after you mail or ship them. Always attach a wire with a Name Tag to the part, to reduce any risk of the part getting lost in the shuffle, passing from hand to hand, etc.

Nickel-plating: never heard of anyone doing it commercially but jewelers are a good source of information.

Last, there's a plating kit being sold for enthusiasts. I haven't tried it, but I heard it works great.

also understand that many "chrome" shops are only brokers ,
they do not do Any work , just farm your stuff out ,

I was at the swap meet the other day , there were 9
chrome" shops but only 2 of them did the work themselves,

You really want a "car guy" to be doing your work,
since many commercial shops will buff out all the detail off your parts,

as far as nickel plating , its part of the plating process, just have them skip the "chrome" bath,

I actually like the look of nickel on many items , gives a more vintage look...

Hi Basil,
I’ve had parts misplaced at the platers before. Now I put pictures of the parts in with the order so the guys have a visual reference if something gets set down. Chrome plating has a lot of steps, and it’s easy for your order to get separated. Did you ever get that plating kit from Caswell?
