Period switches / light relay

Hey guys,

A friend of mine gave me a nice pair of late '60's Carello driving lights. I'm going to mount them soon and I've been looking for a nice-period true switch to put in the cockpit. I've found these, which are retro-modern (aluminum shaft with an LED at the tip): LED toggle switch

Anyone have any sources for something similar? I'd like an illuminated switch.

Also, where can I purchase a decent relay for these lights?

Cheers,
Gavin

Automotive grade relays are cheap, pick them up on flea-bay.

Personally, I would go with an original TR3 wiper or dash light switch. They are usually pretty cheap used, because they rarely fail.

Since I dislike having lights on the dash when driving on a dark night (which is the only time one should use driving lights, IMO); if I felt an indicator was necessary, I would probably opt for a buzzer that sounds if the lights are left on with the key off. But that's just me. With an extra diode, you could even extend the concept to cover the headlights as well.

Don't forget that a stock generator presents a limited power budget. With both headlights and driving lights on, you will likely be running at least partly on the battery; which means reduced voltage and reduced light output.

That Holden switch is beautiful, but wow is it expensive! 60 bucks for a switch is not in my budget.

Thanks for the tips guys. I've found a bunch of different options now, after using your input and then searching for "illuminated push / pull switches"

Here are some by Hella: switch

Oooh, I LIKE that Hella switch! It even sorta matches -- or at least complements -- the shape of the knobs in a TR3...or a Herald. I might just have to get me one or two of those if I ever get around to throwing some Lucas 576 driving and fog lamps on the Herald.
