What was the household cleaner posted for stripping paint???

I've searched and come up empty. :wall:
 
EZ-Off (oven cleaner)? I think I once heard/read that if you leave it on a while (hour maybe?), it would soften paint.

Doc,

I have a TR3A that was stored in a barn and was going to be an easy bit of magic to restore Nigel's former luster; however, the jughead mechanic friend of the previous owner sprayed Oven Off all over the under carriage while Nigel was put on the rack.

The paint was gone and so was any protection from the elements. I tracked him down and his idea was to remove the "gunk".

Now I am starting from the beginning.

Be careful - but I attest that it does remove paint and "gunk".

Easyoff works well on plastic items if you want to strip them. Doesn't hurt the plastic but removes paint and plating. Works best if you can seal the parts in a plastic bag to contain the fumes while it works.
 
There was a thread awhile back about DAWN.. Industrial strength..
