Hmmm. He's not totally ignorant of what it is, but rather he seems a bit confused about the relationship between Daimler and Jaguar.
I can understand that as many Daimlers are just Jaguars with different trim and drivelines. (of course the SP250 was not one of them)
That's a nice looking Dart. Someones gonna get a good deal.

Are Vice Grips standard dashboard equipment on these?

No Bruce, we usually use the OEM clothspin to hold the choke out.
The Jag reference is probably because Jag bought Daimler in '60 or '61 and competition with the E type was one reason for not promoting or contuing the SP.

When I bought a used 1979 Chevy dump truck it came with one Vice Grip window winder.

For some reason I think that the green SP 250 is not nearly as good looking as your red one. Can't figure why as I like BRG but it just does nothing for that SP250.

I think that paint is too old to look good on anything, especiall with the gel coat flakes. I like red, but will have the resto car done in either blackberry or black cherry. I'm not a fan of BRG on them but do like in dark better than light. And I'm not trying for a restoration to original.

Keoke- was wondering when you'd appear:>} Yeh saw the strap. I personally prefer the hidden underbonnet chain. But, what can I expect from someone using the vicegrips that were designed for the bonnet release shaft on the choke? FWIW, that "A" spec was most likely a '59 build, or very early '60 at the latest. I think the first 10 numbers were prototypes, so that car would be number 35. I've mentioned that to the seller. You should buy it for the extra motor and part out the rest.

Well Dart, that chain be so noisy and uncouth, /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif But I think I will keep my eye on the Tuper Ware Item and maybe if it does not go too high, I might just grab it! But ifin I take the engine out! What else is left ?---Keoke- /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif

Y'TR- that's great, the more on the road the better. Ask him what his chassis number is, please. It is probably the number used as the VIN on his title. And when it comes time to help him, always glad to provide whatever quidance I can from afar. I usually hang in the Other British forum. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/square.gif The SP's probably have more parts/designs borrowed from Triumph than any other marque.

I still would not have paid more than $8,000, considering my experience with resto costs today and the problems with sourcing parts. I wish the new owner the best, and hope I'm wrong about what that car will take to be a safe, reliable driver.

Nope Dart you are not wrong. I priced it out in my mind at ~$15,000.00. So it's sale price is just a down payment to spend 15K more. I think the buyer was a dealer---Keoke
