One reason I won't watch the superbowl

Hmmm. that makes 2 for me... the other would be the artist formerly known as, the artist formerly known as Prince
Actually, I did watch a bit of it... is it still on??

I didn't watch it (not a sports fan - to each his-
- own).
I was told that there was a commercial for Garwin GPS
systems that featured a MKII Cortina.

I thought football was over last weekend,
and they played another game today? What
was the point of that??

Because "the prodigy" Peyton Manning has to have a ring to wear at Thanksgiving dinner to show who is really the best player in his house!!!!

I didn't watch it. And for a hint of double-standards if ever I heard one......

NFL assistant counsel Rachel L. Margolies wrote in a follow-up e-mail, "we are consistent in refusing the use of our game broadcasts in connection with events that promote a message, no matter the content."

Unless they are commercial ads of course.

The real sporting even of the year follows in May. FA Cup final, anyone?

I watched The Closer all afternoon. Caught up on all the missed episodes. I, also, finished my homework (thought I was old enough not to have any) on a Quickbooks course I'm taking. I had more fun doing that than waiting for the supposed great commercials. A friend told me over the phone there were very few good commercials so I didn't miss anything. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazy.gif

I watched it only because I was in on the $10 pool at work. I did good. $125 for the first quarter, and $250 for the 2nd quarter. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Ohhhh, car parts. cool.

The NFL is quite draconian in protecting its interest in the game. I agree. Seems silly. It's not as if less people will see the game...and commercials with such showings. They undoubtedly have the right to control their product in this manner, but the wisdom of exercising it this way is more than suspect.

As for the game. The best team certainly won. It was painful to watch...after the first 14 seconds.

I can confim that one. Shows a front shot of it. Probably only noticeable to MkII owners. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Legally - perhaps...but the issue of not having more than one TV on makes no sense to me. One case someone mentioned was where someone invites a bunch of people into their house to watch the game, but has a 55" TV set up in the living room and a small TV in the kitchen. When the ads come on and people migrate to the kitchen to get snacks they would, using the NFL's "standards", miss the ads. Breaking their rules with the 2nd TV means they would see the ads.

Obviously logic and the NFL don't go hand and hand, but that doesn't surprise me in the least.

I'm just pleased that Tony D got his ring. AFAIC it shoulda been his second one, but better late than never.

Football game yesterday? Shoot it is Feb and I was in the garage.

You might as well be talking medical terms to me. Don't have a clue what Tony D or AFAIC is.

Tony D(ungy): Coach for the winning team.

AFAIC: "As Far As I'm Concerned."

Never heard of him, but that shouldn't be any surprise

I know MOST of you don't care about this, but MY season starts Saturday. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif

Sometimes its nice not living in the USA. Big screens all over watching it here and the NFL can't do squat about it!!!
