And its only $19,998!

1994 BMW 840Ci V8 Auto (yuck!) 2+2.

Now if I didn't have my 928 I'd give something like this serious consideration. Low miles for a 1994 with only 86,785 on the clock. I’d prefer black or silver but while I’d always thought burgundy was a rather feminine color I think it actually looks good with this package. Likewise the interior is in pretty good condition and the back seats look a heck of a lot roomier than my Shark.

That said there are only two things wrong with this car IMHO.
First - it's an Auto /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/pukeface.gif & second it's doesn’t have the V12 (850). Either of which would make this an easy choice if I didn't already have my Porsche.

Thoughts? BTW it’s sitting on a lot about 3 miles from my house.

I've always had a soft spot for the 8-series, but in reality they are a bit of a dog for the price.

Re: Ok this is sweat BMW 8 Series!

Update doing some reading it looks as if the 840Ci might be rarer than the 850Ci.

Total USA/CDN 1994-1995 (Global 93-95) production of the 840Ci V8 was only a little over 4700 but only about 1600 made it into the USA/CDN market. Whereas the 850i/Ci with the V8 was just over 20K total between 91-94 with only about 4200 of those making it into the N. American market. Numbers for the 850 dropped off significantly the following years – with the 840 seeing the larger numbers (800 V8’s vs almost 400 for the V12s)

Still - can you say “exclusivity”.

True. In fact 928's always love pulling up next to one of these fellas at a stop light. The Sharks of the same vintage bone stock will leave the Bemmers in the dust & redfaced. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

Still - I think it's a classy ride.

Re: Ok this is sweat BMW 8 Series!

Wasn't there a car that came out of England in the mid to late seventies, with a pointy nose and popup headlights, and a hood bulge like that? Seems like their commercials said something like, "The Shape of Things to Come", didn't they?

Hmmmm....

And now BMW has rights to their name....

Hmmmm.....

I promise I was just pickin'. my spelling is terrible.
And I really do like that Bimmer. I wanna drive one.
funny how close it is to the 7/8
I always thought of the Lotus Esprit when I saw one of those Bimmers. Very 80s
Wonder if they make a body kit for a Fiero?

Re: Ok this is sweat BMW 8 Series!

There is a guy working on a Corvette transplant for these cars. Much cheaper route than trying to replace the V12.

Early V8s such as these were problematic in that the Nikasil cylinder lining did't do what it should. Most engines have been replaced by now with those using Alusil, but there are some of the Nikasil motors out there still.
