New Tires and Wheels for BN1

OK, so it's time to get some new tires and wheels for the BN1. Wanted to collect the opinions of the team on what's the best way to go. I have the old and tired 48 spokes which are in fair shape but would need to be redone.

My thought was since I do plan to drive this on weekends was to go with a higher spoke count in chrome and redo the 48's for any shows I get into.

Thoughts and recommendations on who to deal with for a package of tires and wheels?

Another country to hear from. When we restored Agatha we went to British Wire Wheels and while perhaps a tad pricey, were more than satisfied and have had no problems.

FWIW, I don't think anyone else in the country does what they do. We sent the MGB wheels there last month and the Healey wheels there yesterday. I'm sending the Healey brake drums there over the winter.

I used British Wire Wheel. They were very easy to talk to and helpful. It was a good experience. Six thousand miles later (1 year) and things are still right on.

I think you will have a good experience with either British Wire Wheel or Hendrix. You need to look at the total cost of the package and shipping.

I don't know if you have decided tire size, I think that for the BN1 and 2s the 165/80 series tire is fine, close to original size and readily available, I had Kumhos on my 100 and was very happy with the, but would rather have had tires that said "Dunlop" or something a little more period correct on the side, but beyonf that nothing at all to complain about these tires that are available at a very good price.

I have also had good luck with local shops fitting and balancing on my wire wheels, but you need to ask around a little to find someone who can still do it.

If budget is not a major concern by all means ship them out to Hendrix or BWW, if you would rather spend your Healey dollar elsewhere there are other options.

All, thanks for the input I orderd 72 spoke chrome wheel with the Vredestein 165's from Hendrix. The level of detail that Allen offered was very impressive. I'm looking forward to getting these on the 100 and doing a test run!

Good choice with Hendrix. I was very happy with both the wheels and tires they sold me last year. Arrived balanced, shaved, and marked for left front, right rear, etc.
