Those do look like fun! But $48K? Don't have that sort of disposable income....

Well, it's a good symbiotic combo but I don't see a big audience.

I'd love one, but that's above my pay grade.

Pricey, indeed. I'm mostly curious how the youngsters will view them. I'm aware of 3 (three) Morgan enthusiasts under the age of 60. Future of the biz looks bleak.

On the other hand, 3- wheelers seem to be enjoying a resurgence. The Honda Spider trike thing seems to be enjoying at least some success, and the automotive X-prize had a few trikes as well. Aptera seems to be selling cars.

I'd love a Morgan 3-wheeler (and I'm well under 60) but again it's a cost issue here -- and I'm 6'1" with wide feet. It's a bit of a limitation...

A bit ago VW had a 3-wheeler concept that they claimed they would put into production for around $17k. I would have seriously considered one -- but then their lawyers got involved and that was the end of that.

Us younger chaps face the simple issue of the rising cost of classics. I guess that's one reason I wound up with the Sprite -- it's still a cheap way to have an interesting classic to drive.

I'd pick one up if they were affordable for me. That will never happen with four kids though, unless they really depreciate as used cars.

<laugh> I'm 6'3" and 285# and can drive most trikes - but I do have to take my shoes off (paddle feet)

Mine were always called my very own built-in snow shoes.

I like the idea of it, but don't care for the execution of the front suspension. The new version looks too "kit-car"ish to me. Compare the original to the ACE and many of the proportions are off, imvho. Hopefully at $48K, they'd be willing to tweak some things per the new owner's request. Nice idea, I hope it is successful.

Looks like this has motivated Morgan themselves to re-introduce three-wheelers

It's actually the same company - the guy in Seattle is building them under license form Morgan. There has been a lot of confusion on pricing and availability, and even the licensing is now reported as being "subject to thorough testing"

One article suggested production may be limited to a couple per year, but that seems pretty ridiculous.

Before I would pay that much for one, assuming I wanted one, I'd look for an original, not a new one. But, that's just me. PJ

An original would cost at least as much.

Maintenence would be required with every drive, and parts would be bloody rare for the old JAP and Matchless engines (unless you have one of the REALLY obscure motors) Most have exposed valvetrain (exposed rockers, with oil flying everywhere). Motor rebuilds are around $20K these days in the Morgan circles.

And an original would have much twitchier handling (sliding pillar suspension, no shocks) and have narrower cockpits.

I can see the advantage of the modern version, and the appeal of the Harley V-twin.

That said, I agree with you - I'd prefer an original 30's supersports with a Matchless V-twin - but then again I's park it in my living room instead of the garage!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's art with moving parts.

With me, I just like old cars and I'm just not to crazy about modern copies. Unless, if I wanted an unusual fun machine to drive everywhere and that's a lot of money for a play thing, to me anyway, but then again, we all drive fun machines don't we! It's just that their oldies. And, with a new one, you loose the fun of carrying a few quarts of oil, grease gun, tools and spare parts, coveralls and hand wipes? That would take some of the fun away! :jester: PJ
