Hi.

I'm John Webster from Houston via Bath, England but been Stateside for a long time now.

I've just brought my E-Type back, it's the third time across the pond since 1969!

And, hooking up with Steve Favill on LinkedIn he said I needed to join this forum and post some pics of the car for all you Jaguar fans out there.

A little history. I had a Cooper S in England at the same time the E-Type was in vogue and took great pleasure in streeking away from one when the opportunity arose both in noise and speed, this was particularly fun around the streets of London. And, never thinking I would own one!

Then came my 40th birthday and we were a little better off in those days and was surprised by my late wife with a hunter Fob watch and the car -- Time Flys!!

That's almost twenty-five years ago now.

I have had it stored in England since 1996 and I last drove it in 1998 when I made the End To end Run from John o Groats in Scotland to Lands End in Cornwall -- the lenght of the UK, some 850 miles in 13 hrs with 4 stops of 15mins.

It's is original except for a respray (a deer hit in NJ)and regular mechanicals, 51k miles with three owners.

The first owner won the car in a NY raffle and drove it as her regular car for five years. Then sold through The Stable in NJ to a Jaguar collector who stored it for the next 10 yrs until he went into planes! Then, my wife found it, again at The Stable. I've had it since.

That's my story and will get pictures up soon -- when I figure out how.

Now to call Steve.

Welcome John

Great story behind a wonderful car.
Do post pics.
Stop by the Jaguar forum and introduce yourself. They will be more than glad to see you.
And slip on down to the pub, first pint is on me.

Dave :savewave:

Welcome, John!

Interesting story on the Jag. I've been the second and fourth owner of my Elan. Funny how that works.

Welcome John...
A very interesting story. We are glad to have you here. I did enjoy Bath during my only visit there back in 1976.

You will enjoy this group and will find it is a great resource for LBC fanatics. You will find adding photos is not too difficult. And in a spare moment, drop by the Pub for a pint of three.

Enjoy the Ride!

Hi John - I too am near Houston, and come originally from Gloucestershire so not far from Bath at all.
Have you been in Houston long? If so you know about Toads and the Richmond Arms, so I don't need to tell you.

Good Day John,

"Great Story"! I guess "What goes around; Comes around"!

I used to visit "The Stable" in NJ quite regularly & participated in a few shows they had with my E-Type.

My E-Type Rdstr. is gone but after owning "4" of them; It will always be my "1st" Love affair with an LBC.

Enjoy Your Ride,

Russ

Hi, John, and welcome to the Forum!

Larry

:driving: Welcome John! BCF is about the best forum there is. You can learn, teach, kavetch (sp?) and just chat away. Driving your LBC is good thing too. You will see I have both a Jag and Healey. Onlow the Jag is only a teenager but special to me. Agatha, the Healey, is my pet. As an LBC person I am sure you will understand my need for naming mine. Again Welcome!
