Hello, I just joined for the camaraderie after buying a TR6. I’m looking forward to learning more about the cars and experiences to come. I found a real nice one. Only 7,000 miles, hardtop, a/c, overdrive. It’s mimosa with chestnut. I haven’t actually taken delivery of it yet. It’s in Cali and I’m in Fl. The hardtop needs to be installed so it can be shipped and I’m flying out on 7/14 to do that. Long story but the current owner can’t do it. If anyone is near Camarillo and wants to help, let me know. Thanks, Dan

Welcome to BCF, Dan! Wow, great find! Bet you can't wait to get it home!

Hello Dan

Welcome to the forum.

You will find the Triumph section is very active so you are sure to get plenty of tips and advice for your New to you TR6.

You not going to drive it back? It would be a great chance to get to know the TR6.

David

Thanks guys. Yes, I can’t wait. If it weren’t for the hardtop situation it would be in my garage by now. As much as I’d like to, driving it from CA to FL is just too risky - I don’t know it well enough maintenance wise. Plus I think my insurance is only for occasional, short trip use.

Yeah, without knowing the mechanical fitness of the car first hand, driving a 46 year old car across country would be pretty risky.

I agree driving - and frankly also in summer. I do wonder though if there is a club in California that you could approach to facilitate shipping?

But what's fun about doing it the easy way?
I flew up to Victoria,British Columbia & bought a '72 Cortina MKIII.
Turned out to be a fun trip.

Finding a shipper can be a crap shoot they have to deal with brokers, middle men, so ins. is a big deal with open carrier. I know a painter who had a carrier bring in three top row cars that the driver took off the mirrors on a tree lined street. There is nothing good that can happen to cars going through the fly-over states in summer. Things to think about.

The seller owns an exotic car leasing company and they ship enclosed all the time. He’s shipping it for me enclosed so no worries there.
