Hi Everyone.
I wondered over here from another forum. I am in the middle of a ground up restoration of my 73 MGB and I have gotten great advice from some of the folks I recognize on this forum.
I may not know as much as many of the more experienced on this forum, but I hope I can contribute.
Cheers!

Hi Mark,

Welcome aboard. Don’t be too concerned if you can’t contribute right out of the gate most of us didn’t. The simple act of joining us rather than lurking (as I did for months) is a great start.

When you get a chance be sure to post a picture of your car in the member’s rides gallery?

Mark...welcome...&, remember: we all started out with our 1st car...&, sometimes the guy doing it for the 1st time finds something we all have missed!

MarkJ...I would've had to call that one a 'borderline' deal had I stumbled over it....it looks too nice to be a parts car but requires too much work for me to get ready to sell....but, remember: I look at these little things totally different than anybody else...I have 15 of them plus parts cars...nowadays, most MG's I find are duplicates of ones in my collection so I automatically buy them for resale or parting out!
Can't wait to see your final product...if its anything close to David's BRG car, you'll have done a great job!

Tony,
I am new at this and I'm sure I will make a lot of bad choices (just like life in general I guess).

I had a great running 73 B but the body was so rusty (to many Ohio winters) it wasn't structurally safe. I bought this shell in a junk yard just north of Athens, GA for next to nothing. The sills were sound but I had to welded in new floors, part of the firewall, boot floor, and a few other pieces that I scavenged off the 73. At this point I don't have much $$ in it. The body shop guy quoted me a reasonable price (I have seen his work it is excellent) and I have been picking up bits an pieces from ebay, Moss sales, etc.

I rebuilt the front suspension and will finish putting it back together this weekend and then paint the rear end.

Unlike you this is not a business for me. It is my hoby and my passion, and I am really having FUN!

Mark...we all do that...just ask chuck about Ole Rusty....after a lifetime of buying, playing with, selling, loving, etc MG's, I bought that thing thinking it was twice the car it is...don't get me wrong, its probably one of the best driving/running MG's around but I'm worried that it'll break in half at any time...&, boy did I overpay!

Mark, welcome aboard. The assembled knowledge available here is awesome. Not to mention the fact that a few of us have a pretty warped sense of humor, to break the monotony. Probably from too many years of sniffing Castrol fumes! You'll enjoy yourself, and that's what counts.
Jeff

Mark,

Welcome to the the forum...and don;t let us scare you away...you sound like you have done some of the jobs I am planning to do this winter already!

And BTW, it is "just a hobby" for Tony too...until he retires, if they let him!

This year, Bruce, this year....Alaska is calling!

don't you say no bad things about ol Rusty Tony, she's holding up really well and most things work better than most of the other B's I've driven. I may just drive her to Memphis. I guess I'm getting attached to her

welcome aboard Mark

chuck...like I said: she's way too good for a parts car but not quite sure if she justifies a restoration...&, it is strange how well she runs out! Notice, I'm calling her 'she' so she's developing a personality & following!

Bret,
I tried to upload a picture of my car as you suggested but I can't figure out what my member # is!? Where do I find that?

Mark,
Are related to Henri, and what is your hair color?
Both are very important questions. To fully understand, look on the "Humor" forum.

Ed,
I don't know Henri from Adam and my hair is brown. I'm a slow learner but I eventually get it.
BTW- I'm a very good swimmer.
