New fuel?

Let's go ! Let the rest of them eat sand !!
WOW ! that would sure change things on this planet

Excellent!!! that may just be the breakthrough that we needed.
I see that becoming BIG!!!!!
I especially like that it was invented by someone with thier own small business, and not some big industry (even though they've spent billions trying to figure out something like this).
Hmmmmm. I wonder if I could get a franchise to retrofit cars to run on his system....

Anything since. Seems awfully quiet for such a breakthrough.

THAT'S what I was wondering Jack, unless after his stint in DC explaining it he was whisked awy and put under wraps!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazy.gif OR...is it a hoax!!?? He wasn't confident enough to eliminate the traditional fuel source on his mule!!!

And then he was transported to an undisclosed location by a black helicopter. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Sure, it runs on water. But the amount of power required to convert the water to a usable fuel is very high.

Here's the companies website:

https://hytechapps.com/

I've been looking for some figures detailing how much energy it takes to produce the gas compared with how much energy you get from it but haven't found anything - not anything that I can understand easily anyway.

I find it hard to believe that BILLIONS of dollars have been poured into research for hydrogen fuel and this guy, in his backyard, comes up with the answer. I hope I am wrong. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

This thing sounds a lot like the old "Brown's gas" craze, which was simply hydrogen generated by electrolysis of water. The problem with it, as is the problem with hydrogen as a fuel in general, is that the energy density--the energy derived by burning hydrogen--is relatively small. And, you can NEVER get more energy out of the fuel than you put in to create it.

This sort of thing goes on all the time. A guy comes up with some idea, claims that it works, shows some kind of demonstration that doesn't really prove what he claims--whatever that is--and then tries to market it. And, what EXACTLY is the guy claiming? Does he claim that this is an energy SOURCE, which means that he gets more energy out than is needed to create it? If so, this is an out-and-out scam. If not, then what's the advantage over hydrogen generated by electrolysis (if, indeed, he is generating something different)? Don't count on Fox News to ask questions like this.

Also, what is the difference between HHO and H2O? This is chemical nonsense.

The thing to remember is that the burden of proof is on the guy making the claim. Until there is some genuine proof that this is more than simply hydrogen, I don't buy any of it.

Submarines use the same system to separate oxygen (for breathing) and to get HH which dissolves in sea water without making bubbles, whereas H2 makes bubbles (which cause noise). Pure distilled water is needed and has to be extremely sterile. I don't know much more than that as to the chemical process.

It bears following!! Something is making his torch work amazingly well!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/confused.gif

The same demonstrations were used to justify Brown's gas. In fact, Brown's gas was supposed to be used for welding. It was fine for heating small pieces, but the energy required for a real weld simply couldn't be provided by any reasonable quantity of hydrogen in an appropriately sized flame. There is a reason why acetylene is used for gas welding. Hydrogen has always been an option; if it were better, it would be used now.

Sorry if I'm getting animated by this. I know, the style of these forums is to be a lot more laid back than I am now. However, I keep seeing this kind of thing over and over, and it really gets me going.

Calm down, Steve. Breathe. Again. Repeat mantra: (mellow, mellow, mellow.....)

Interesting, though, about the submarines. By HH, I assume you mean two molecules of H1? Not sure how that happens, but since it's unstable, I assume it reacts with the water instead of forming bubbles as a stable gas would.

I should think that if this was really any good we would have heard a lot about it.

Increase gas mileage by up to 51%, shoot it would be headlines every day even if it was only half of that.

I could see a potential for it working in a dual fuel electric car with the batteries and generator supplying the electricity needed.

I did see a scam on smog units in Santa Rosa in the mid 70's. Guy claimed he eliminated all smog by routing the exhaust totally back into the carb. I was campaigning a NHRA car at the time and refused to invest until I got to see the engineering plans (fat chance). Everyone that invested lost their shirt.

Well, this would be worth following the progress of if only to make sure that the politicians in DC aren't funding some pie-in-the-sky scam that he may be offering to them, using our tax dollars, as was claimed on that Fox broadcast! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Even if this guy has figured out an economical way to seperate the Oxygen from the Hydorgen in water. I`m sure the E.P.A. will be on his doorstep to ensure that he isn`t fouling the earth in any way. Any "restrictions" they put on his process surly will raise the cost substantialy. Not to mention what Big Oil is waiting in the wings to do to ensure thier intrests. I would love to see hydrogen fuel evolve to a viable useable energy source in my lifetime. I have probably taken this into a controversial area alreay so I`ll leave the rest of my thoughts and comments to the wind.
